The most effective way to wean the baby is to gently, slowly give food to replace our breast milk. Transition from breast milk to food should be gradual and progressive. It is important to make sure that both you and your baby is comfortable with the weaning technique you’re doing.

Baby weaning should be done when you’re confident that you and your baby are both ready for it emotionally. It’s best to assess the situation how our baby feels about it, if he’s crying through the night or something feels not right.

When this happens it could be that it is not yet the right time to wean your baby. It’s important to take slow or adjust your weaning process. When you started wean your baby at night, remember that our baby will be exposed to bacteria and germs especially if they are already in kindergarten.

At this point we have to give them immune booster. Our breast milk which has so many vitamins and minerals to protect them, we should give them alternatives to make sure they’re still protected.

Another important tip during the weaning process at night is to have a routine before going  to sleep. Listening to music or reading a book can help make them fall asleep fast. It’s a NO to let them watch TV before putting them to bed to avoid having high energy from watching their favorite cartoon.

Lastly it is difficult to have a breastfed toddler to go to sleep on his own when you put them to bed. They are used to having you as their comfort zone before going to sleep so it’s important to still spend time lying with them on the bed and wait for them to fall asleep.

Babies will still feel secured if we spend a little more time with them before drifting to sleep. It’s really important to do it slowly until they get used to it.

If it doesn’t work the first time, try another way or style. Be flexible and see which ones work for both of you. The important thing is you are both comfortable with it.
